Go to AWHONN website and click on professional resources. In the drop down menu select fetal monitoring, course materials. Click that you are a course participant. The workbook is 135 dollars. If you go on awhonn website you can order through Kendal Hunt Publishing https://www.awhonn.org/fhm/fetal-heart-monitoring/ AWHONN Intermediate EFM Select " order course materials" You should receive a student workbook that you will need to take this course. On the inside cover of this book, are instructions for logging on, student ID and workshop ID. My instructor number is ( 58880491), The workshop # is BONW2550991 There are 3 parts to taking this class. Online Pre-work: This will take 3-3.5 hours to complete. You will use the log on instructions in the front of your student workbook. This work must be completed AT LEAST 24 hours the day before the class starts. I recommend starting about 2 weeks before to make sure you don't have any issues with the student ID or workshop ID. If you do have issues logging on, let me know. May 2, 2025 course code: BONW2550991 The modules: You can stop and start at any time but you if you leave a module before completing it, it might make you start over with that module. I recommend doing the pre-work during a time when you don't expect to be interrupted. If you do not complete the modules before class, you will not be allowed to come to class. In person class: This is an in person class that you must be present for the entire day. If you are unable to stay for the entire class, you will need to repeat it over from the beginning. The class consists of instruction and hands on skills. You are welcome to bring any food or drink that you would like. The class is scheduled for 8 hours. Please arrive a few minutes early to class to get signed in, get your drinks, and get settled in. Post test and evaluation 24 hours after class the in-person class, a post test will be available on the same website that you did your pretest on. You will have 20 days to take your posttest. This is an open book test and you must complete the test and evaluation to receive your CEUs. I recommend taking it ASAP after class to help remember the information and not to forget to take the test. As soon as you pass the test, your CEU certificate will be available to print and save. You are responsible to saving your CEUs as I do not have access to those.
Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course
This course addresses principles of fetal heart monitoring and may be used as a knowledge assessment tool to validate the comprehension of experienced perinatal clinicians. This course includes lectures and hands-on skill stations, including performing Leopold maneuvers, placement of an intrauterine pressure catheter and fetal spiral electrode, interpretation of fetal monitoring tracings using a case-based approach, identification of physiologically based clinical interventions, and communication and risk management principles. This course can be used to support preparation for certification examinations.
Learning Outcomes:
Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring using NICHD terminology within a safety culture framework of interdisciplinary teamwork
Describe clinical interventions and related maternal-fetal physiology to optimize fetal oxygenation
Demonstrate collaborative communication in the perinatal setting
Demonstrate common perinatal procedures related to fetal monitoring

Successful completion of online prerequisite education is required prior to attending the one day in person skills day.
